Semester Review

The Beginning:
I joined the S.I.D. program sophomore year. I joined the class because I thought t
hat we would talk about sports and I didn't realize that there would be more writing and video producing involved.

Ways I have grown in S.I.D.:
1. I have grown in S.I.D. this year a lot from last year. Last year I just kind of played games and didn't really focus on work. I now actually do work

2. I now know how to use Final Cut. Last year I only wrote mediocre stories that were assigned to me by Mr. Allam. This year I found an interests in filming, editing, and doing voice over for videos. I love being able to see the clips that I filmed and getting to see them on Gameday Northwest is pretty awesome too.

3.  I have branched out in my interests.  I have hosted Gameday Northwest. I recently commentated for the first time. I really enjoyed commentating because I was talking about sports and I enjoy doing that.

ONW vs. Olathe East:

I filmed the Olathe Northwest vs. Olathe East football game this year. I filmed and edited with Brennen Wohlford. Brennen did the voice over. I really enjoyed this project because I had already been making videos for a while now, so I was fairly comfortable with filming and editing videos. I also enjoyed this because it was the first time that ONW beat OE in football so to be able to create that video was great.

Homecoming pump up video:

I produced this video with the help of Brennen Wohlford, Brooke Todd, and Ryley Demaro. I enjoyed seeing this video come to life because all of the clips we used were filmed by myself and others.  This video was also viewed by the entire school and that is cool.

ONW vs. Lawrence Football: I filmed the ONW vs. Lawrence game. This game was fun because I traveled to Lawrence to film this. Unfortunately the Ravens lost, but filming this provided a new and fun atmosphere to film at.

Goals for next semester:

1. Learn how to use the Tri-Caster. I have never used the Tri-Caster. I feel like it would be beneficial for me to learn how to use the Tri-Caster though.

2. Commentate More.  I have only commentated once but I loved it. I would like to do that more and host Gameday Northwest more.

Final Thoughts: I have enjoyed this class a lot this year. I love being able to film and edit videos, write stories, and commentate. I feel I gained beneficial skills from this class that I would love to try and improve because I look forward to pursuing a career in one of the fields listed above.
